pico@ardu

Posted on 01.12.2025

The pico@ardu is a carrier board that allows you to connect the Raspberry Pi Pico to an Arduino UNO shield. Since Arduino UNO shields operate at 5 V and the Pico at 3.3 V, all I/O ports except the A/D converters are equipped with a total of 20 level converters. These level converters work bidirectionally and can be switched from 5 V to 3.3 V for newer Arduino shields that operate at 3.3 V.

A Kickstarter campaign for the pico@ardu can be found here.

Technical data

  • Power supply: input voltage 7–15 V / 1 A, output voltage 5 V and 3.3 V
  • Level converters: 20 bidirectional level converters, switchable from 5 V to 3.3 V
  • LEDs: on ports D0 and D1
  • Pico adaptation: the Pico can be soldered in or plugged in

PWM30A-HAT

Posted on 26.11.2018

The PWM30A-HAT is an add-on for the Raspberry Pi for use in robotics or, more generally, for controlling servos and motors in model making. The aim is an easily programmable hardware and software interface for the Raspberry Pi. It is particularly suitable for crawler, 4-wheel and 6-wheel models. Programming effort for motor control is reduced to the I2C interface, which is accessed through an easy-to-use library. The PWM30A-HAT can also be programmed for your own applications via the Raspberry Pi.

Alternatively, thanks to its powerful ATxmega128A1U, the PWM30A-HAT can also be operated standalone. In this case, programming is done via the JTAG interface.

Technical data

  • Power supply 5 V / 8 A: for the servo motors and the Raspberry Pi
  • 30 PWM outputs in total: 24 PWM outputs for analog or digital servos, 6 PWM outputs with a downstream motor driver stage (motor H-bridge)
  • Control of 6 DC motors or 3 stepper motors with max. 18 V / 2.5 A
  • 8 IO ports, configurable as digital inputs or outputs or as analog inputs (5 V)
  • I2C connection to the Raspberry Pi
  • SPI connection to the Raspberry Pi
  • Complies with the guidelines for Raspberry Pi HATs
  • All inputs and outputs have electronic overvoltage protection
  • Programmable via the Raspberry Pi
